The people at Extra Credit, an online cartoon mini-lecture about all facets of games, always have some interesting ideas to share about games.
This video about some of the issues facing the successful use of games in education is particularly great. It doesn’t have many answers but asks a lot of good questions.
I’ve recently had a horrible problem where every minute (literally) whatever window I was working in on my Windows 7 computer would lose focus – the computer decided that it needed to do something else and I had to click back in the window to reactivate it – particularly problematic when typing something. Olaf Nixons comment in this post helped me identify it as the Ask.com toolbar updater (which I had accidentally agreed to install in IE at some point apparently), which checks online for updates every, single, freaking minute. You’ll find it listed as APNMCP in the Event Viewer. Yet another reason to despise Ask.com.
