This blog is all about using games in education – my particular interest is computer based games but it includes everything from roleplays to quizzes and puzzles and much much more.
I have a lot more experience playing games than building or designing them but everyone has to start somewhere, right?
I come from a multimedia background (video and audio production), with some teaching thrown into the mix. I’ve been working in the eLearning field with the Flexible Learning team at the Canberra Institute of Technology, a fairly practically based vocational education and training institution since 2003.
We are currently doing some pretty exciting things with training in virtual worlds for health professionals.
Games can motivate learners by engaging their imaginations, giving them control over their experiences, challenging them, enabling them to experience authentic and relevant activities and providing multimedia stimulation.
